NLP PRACITIONER (3) COURSE, TECHNIQUES FOR SUCCESS: FUNDAMENTALS SAMPLE NOTES Anchoring The desired outcome for this section is for all participants to be able to anchor a specific state in a person, at any time in any modality. Theory: Anchoring is a natural process that attaches meaning to a set of stimuli. An example of this would be: Driving along the road in your car and then a song starts on the radio. With the first bar of music you have a flood of feelings, sounds and images of the past. Frequently you will be able to describe what you were wearing and the names and faces of the situations with great clarity. The song is the anchor to this memory or state. Important things to remember about setting anchors. More than anything else is the need to be congruent in my behaviour. Elicit and intensify the state I want to anchor. Anchor within the context of Rapport.
Remember: The way in which I install the anchor must be congruent and within the context of ecology. It is one of the most exquisite, powerful and natural communication tools we have. Examples: A teacher may elicit a state of perfect learning, then anchor this state so that it can be reactivated for the next lesson. Elements of this state could be excitement, curiosity, wondering what new things there are to learn and how they relate to other learning. A coach may elicit a perfect state for achievement. Elements of this state maybe to call up the animal instinct within, the passion for competition, the sense of speed, lightness and vibrancy. All training is held in Sydney, unless otherwise specified.
