What is NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the study and replication of excellence in any given area.

Neuro - Our nervous system

Linguistic - Language (the words we use to communicate) and non-verbal communication.

Programming -Discovering and utilising the programs that we run so we can achieve our outcomes.

NLPers are fascinated and curious people. We want to know how a certain behaviour, skill or attribute (positive or negative) is maintained. From this point we can deconstruct the behaviour, skill or attribute so that it can be i) replicated or in the case of a negative behaviour ii) disconnected.

What is the difference between an NLP Practitioner, NLP Master Practitioner and NLP Trainer?

There's a beautiful analogy that we think sums this answer up.

NLP Training is like driving a car.

In NLP Practitioner training you learn know how to drive the car.

In NLP Master Practitioner Training you get to look under the bonnet and find out how the car works.

In NLP Trainer's Training you teach others how to drive!

Happy motoring!

There are a lot of NLP Training Institutes out there. How do I know which one to choose and what I need to look out for?

This is a long answer and perhaps the most important, so please take the time to read it. As you will see it's not a 'hard sell' on our programs.

It's important to 'shop around' when choosing an NLP Practitioner Training or sales training program. Not all programs are the same. If a Training Institute tells you 'theirs is the only / superior NLP' program then you may choose to keep looking because their response fails on a few basic NLP presuppositions.

In fact in NLP terms, their statement could be classified as a 'limiting belief'.

At Dynamic Mind Works we believe there is an NLP Training Institute out there for everyone.

It might seem strange, but we actually encourage prospective students to check out other training programs.

Check out other NLP Trainers .

Have a 'mental check list' of what's important to you in a Training Program and be sure to check this list against whom you decide to train with.

For people who want to use NLP in their careers or as a clinical practitioner it's important that you choose training that is comprehensive and has ongoing support of some kind. NLP is about excellence. It's important that NLP Trainers 'walk the talk' of NLP.

It's like most things, if you get a bad feeling or sense that a Trainer is really incongruent then keep searching. If you are not sure, then ask questions until you are sure. It's like most things in life, there are great and not so great NLP Practitioners out there. It's also important to check out the experience of a Trainer. Have they just gone from zero to NLP Trainer in a couple of months? It is possible to do this so it's a good idea to ask. This doesn't necessarily mean they won't do a good job, however usually an NLP Trainer will have   integrated their learning over a least a couple of years. There is an important concept in NLP called 'logical levels'.

As an NLP Trainer you need logical levels above the students you teach.

The rapid acquisition of the title NLP Trainer may not give a person these vital 'logical levels'.

NLP training at any level is a deeply personal, exciting and life changing experience.

If you don't like your Trainer you might find that this experience is compromised.

At Dynamic Mind Works we are happy to meet with you in person or over the phone so you can get a sense of where we come from as an NLP Training Institute. In the past 5 years we have had an obligation free, face-to-face meeting with every student prior to training. This means that we can tailor programs to individual and group needs prior to training. You will actually meet our Trainer Robb Whitewood, before you start training and before you spend any  money . If you decide our training is not for you then that's fine and there is no obligation.

Training group size is another factor to consider. What is the Trainer to student ratio? In a large training group (in excess of 30 people) it's difficult for the Trainer to assist each student with questions etc. Many Trainers bring 'Assistants' with them to overcome the issue with large groups.

In a Dynamic Mind Works NLP Practitioner Certification, our group sizes are small. We have very strict criteria for Training Assistants in the circumstances

in which we utilise them. You will have direct access to our Trainer Robb Whitewood through out the entire training program.

I've done my NLP Practitioner Training with X College and now want to train elsewhere to get my Master Practitioner Training. Can I do this?

Many people crave the diversity in perspectives that are NLP. This can sometimes mean that people will train with different NLP Trainers at different levels.

Because there are a variety of NLP Practitioner Training programs, you might find that some NLP Training Institutes won't recognise your NLP Practitioner

Training Certification and will want you to do a 'bridging course' or skills assessment prior to their Master Practitioner Program. Generally speaking, when this occurs, the bridging program is offered at an affordable rate.

Some Training Institutes will ask you to sign up for both Practitioner and Master Practitioner Training at the same time. It's a bit like buying a car. Say you buy a four-wheel drive. You won't know what accessories you want until you have driven the car for a bit and seen how it copes with various conditions etc.

In the same way, not everyone needs to do Master Practitioner training in NLP.

Can I be a Clinical Practitioner of NLP with only an NLP Practitioner Certification?

There are mixed views about this question.

It really depends upon what your background is. If you come from a health, healing, counselling or psychotherapy background, for example, you may be able to start practising as an NLP Practitioner (with supervision) upon completion of your NLP Practitioner training.

If you don't have any experience in health, healing, counselling or psychotherapy you will need to do both levels of training and have a supervisor and supervised clinical experience to begin clinical practice. Of course many people study NLP purely for its personal growth aspects or to help them in careers, relationships, etc.
